Totspot is a 1,500 square foot interactive exhibition for children ages 5 and younger
and their adult caregivers.
The exhibition opened with the grand opening of the new Long Island Children’s Museum in 2002. The exhibition focuses on supporting the Museum’s repeat visitorship of young children and their parents and caregivers, with spaces for play, quiet sharing, role play and human development exploration. Emphasis was placed on allowing for open-ended discovery and serving visiting groups of pre-K classes. A Parent Resource Area was created to provide multiple levels of information pertaining to early childhood educational theory, local resources for parenting education, as well as resources specifically for caregivers.
